Business Decision Management aims to develop students’ knowledge of the business environment, especially with regard to concepts, information systems, and IT related to decision support methods and models.  In particular, it develops the ability to think analytically about the nature and scope of business strategy and operations, and the challenges faced by business managers today and in the future. It builds skills of students to know how different types of business modeling can be used to analyze and inform policy and strategy within an organization. The course is open to applicants from all backgrounds and has been designed as a generalist masters course for students who may have not previously studied business, management and  IT related subjects.

While providing a broad business background, this course focuses on the management of the movement of materials, goods and labour, the supply chain and current strategies in transport and distribution.  The course develops knowledge of the business environment, especially with regard to the management of logistics systems, logistics challenges faced by today’s international organizations and the planning and delivery of logistics strategies.

It also builds the key logistic analytical, strategic and operational skills needed for a global manufacturer, retailer or logistics service provider at a mid-management level upwards.  Remarkably, this course enables the learner to support the development and successful implementation of logistics-related projects and strategies.  The capacity to identify the implication of policies on inventory holding, replenishment and management of the supply chain to the organizations and industries is deeply rooted in this course.

The distribution aspect of the course focuses on the management of logistics assets required to operate a global logistics system. The characteristics and issues of  different logistics operating systems will be examined including how to optimize various modes of transport such as trains aircraft, trailers, ships, and road vehicles.

The one (1) year collaborative programme with Coventry University, UK is designed to provide the core competencies relevant to the evolving global oil and gas business landscape which is always evolving and presenting new challenges across the entire value chain, from upstream to downstream.  It prepares players in the financial markets and insurance operations to manage risk   and consider lending strategies for crude oil and refined products which displays volatility in the upstream segment.

The course develops skills for oil and gas operators to develop innovative approached to manage the economics and financial aspects of the business. Persons who are interested in a career or already working in the oil and gas industry, with interest in financial, economic analysis and strategist roles will find it rewarding.  The course is also instructive for staff from the financial services sector, oil and gas marketing and storage company staff, upstream oil and gas companies and the broader downstream oil companies to achieve efficiency in practice. Accountants and numerate audiences seeking to make a move into the oil and gas industry and financial service sector with special interest in oil and gas will benefit from the MBA.

A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme should have obtained at least a Merit in a Master’s Degree in the subject area of research he/she intends to pursue. In addition, the candidate will also be required to secure the minimum, stipulated score in a written test and/or interview that may be specified by the Research and Innovation Council (RIC) of the University.

Applicants  possessing  a  Master’s  degree  in  a  field  of  study  not  directly  related  to  the programme may be required to take additional preparatory courses.

The STRUCTURE of the programme is as follows:

  • Modules of coursework, Students will complete two (2) modules “Research Methodology” and “Technical Communication” module at MSRUAS, Bangalore or GTUC, Tesano Campus. Where coursework is done at GTUC, student will need to arrange and pay a two to four week visit to Bangalore, India during the period of his/her study.
  • Writing Research Proposal,
  • Comprehensive examinations, and a Dissertation.

ebenDr. Ebenezer Malcalm, a senior lecturer and the Director of the Centre for Online Learning and Teaching (COLT), has been appointed as the Dean of the Graduate School with immediate effect.

Before joining GTUC, Dr. Malcalm was founding Pro-Vice Chancellor of Laweh Open
University. He was also senior lecturer and Coordinator of Distance Learning School at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.

He is a trained instructional designer, technologist and communication & development expert. Dr. Malcalm founded Rescue Mission Ghana, an international NGO that seeks to promote the concept of sustainable development.

Dr. Malcalm obtained a Bachelor degree in Publishing Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Kumasi, Ghana and a Master’s degree in Population Studies, from the University of Ghana. He also graduated and earned Master’s degree in International Affairs with a major in Communication and Development at Ohio University. He earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at same University.

He has vast experience in developing and facilitating collaborative learning projects such as the Global Teenager Project, (GTP), International Education and Resource Network (IEARN), and Mtandao Afrika (Thinkquest Africa) etc.
Speaking on his appointment, he said his primary objective is to pursue a rigorous quality assurance programme and also invigorate the blended learning approach in graduate studies at GTUC.

We congratulate Dr. Ebenezer Malcalm on his appointment and wish him well in his new role.

Abigail Nana Konadu Owusu - Aspiring Vice PresidentNana is MSc Supply Chain Management student with Coventry University. Currently working as Media Planner with SCANAD Ghana Ltd and has a great track record of creativity with strong analytical mind for critical thinking.

She is a natural born leader and understands sacrifices that come with leadership. Nana has served in various leadership positions back in Methodist University where she had her first degree in Information Technology.


I will work together with my team to ensure effective leadership and productive welfare of students.

Kwame Tabiri - Aspiring PresidentI am a Ghanaian with a drive to influence people for positive results. I joined University of Ghana in 2005 after gaining admission to the Business School. I held various positions in the Christian and Social groupings within the University Community. I became the Finance Committee Chairman and subsequently the Treasurer of the Students Representative Council (SRC). From school I joined TF Financial Services Limited. I left as the Finance Manager to join Guarantee Trust Bank Ghana Limited in the Audit and Control Group. I joined United Bank for Africa leading audit teams. My vast and rich experience in student and corporate leadership has endowed me with all the relevant skills to lead the Graduate Students Association (GRASAG)

Francis Amoako - Aspiring PresidentI am MBA Finance student, September 2015 intake. I work with Barclays Bank Ghana as Portfolio Manager for Affluent segment – Retail Banking. In short, my role involves strategic thinking leading to identification of opportunities and developing high level implementation plans for execution. Delivering customer profitability is key to my role. I have seven years of experience in the Banking and Finance industry.

I have a diploma in Accounting, BSc. Commerce, Part qualification in ACCA and my MBA Finance is on-going with Coventry University through GTUC. I had the opportunity to work as SRC Finance Officer back in my tertiary education. I currently function as a Steward in the Methodist Church Ghana, Mizpah Society under Akweteman Circuit which I have done for four years.

My mission is to collaborate effectively with GTUC management, my team and GRASAG (NEC) to deliver improved graduate education to student. Graduate education requires free flow of relevant information accessible to student anytime, anywhere to drive quality research. Graduate education flourishes in a congenial environment including Infrastructure. Graduate education requires discipline and respect for time both at students and facilitators/lecturers level. Graduate education should be reasonably affordable to enable more potential students take advantage to broaden their horizons and develop potentials.

GRASAG, GTUC chapter needs a structured setup including formulation of clear policies to guide behaviours and decisions.
